Arch Methodology Project: The burden to explain false intuitions
Ichikawa's closing claim: It seems to me that if a well-supported theory has a counterintuitive consequence, it’s not the theory’s job to explain why people have the false intuition, beyond the minimal way: people are so constituted to think that p, but not-p, where not-p is the verdict of the theory. If the theorist wants to do some psychology and attempt to explain where the false intuition comes from, that’s great. But I think it’s often optional.
